YOUR ROLE
The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for several construction projects. The overall requirement of the Senior Electrical Engineer is to ensure successful execution and completion of several projects (Program of Work), meeting defined timescales, quality standards and commercial objectives, managing relationships both internal and external whilst upholding the GT core values. The role is for experienced Electrical Engineers’ who have the capability to take on greater responsibility. It can also be developmental role towards a Lead Design Engineer position.
YOU
- Read and acknowledge relevant Client specifications and approval requirements
- Understand the budget and target values for the packages of work
- Identify technical improvements and cost savings for the work packages
- To maintain excellent working relationships with the clients / partners and other potential clients / partners
- To work continuously to improve standards of performance and improve efficiency
- To fully own, and be accountable for their design output (i.e., Process, Mechanical or Electrical)
- To maintain good communications with all members of the design and project team ensuring an acceptable multi-disciplinary design output
- To develop best value, robust designs solutions which can withstand external challenge
- To work to the Design Activity Schedule (produced by the Lead Design Engineer) thus ensuring all required design deliverables are completed on time
- To acknowledge and communicate the design risk and assumptions associated with the project and support the Lead Design Engineer in managing this risk. To record the risks and assumptions as the project progresses
- Discuss all design changes and agree an appropriate response
- To establish the environmental issues associated with the design and to work with the Lead Design Engineer in managing them through the design process
- To work to the company Business Management System (BMS)
- To adopt a strong and positive culture which can be visible to all. Also, to protect the interests and reputation of the company at all times
- To share best practice and good / bad experiences with other designers, the Lead Design Engineers, Design Manager and Engineering Manager
- Identify potential improvements to the Galliford Try systems, processes and procedures to the Lead Design Engineer and Engineering Manager
- To communicate with the Engineering Manager on engineering initiatives
- To undertake effective Whole Life Costs (WLC) comparisons during feasibility
- To provide design support to the construction and commissioning teams during process critical stages of the programme
