Description
Process Commissioning Engineer (wastewater)

Our client, an end-client water and sewerage company working across the South West of England, is looking for a Process Commissioning Engineer with wastewater experience in a process commissioning or a science-based role to join their Commissioning team working on wastewater capital projects.

What can I expect?
The Commissioning team manages and undertakes the commissioning of capital projects from wet testing and software testing through to takeover on clean and wastewater sites throughout the South West region.

A Process Commissioning Engineer provides input throughout the design and construction of a project, before driving the project through successful commissioning. You will be working collaboratively with design teams, project managers, construction teams and operations throughout the life of each project.

For the remainder of AMP7, the bulk of the wastewater projects involve Phosphorus Removal; the majority of which also include additional scope, such as tertiary solids removal, capital maintenance and the construction of new process stages. In addition, there are a number of larger non-P-removal schemes to deliver.

Typical day to day activities will include:
  • providing technical input to project design
  • assisting project teams with technical queries
  • attending design review meetings and HAZOPs
  • providing Process Risk Assessments for construction activities
  • undertaking software FATs and SATs
  • bringing new process units online
  • process optimisation
  • process and mechanical reliability testing

What are the requirements?
You’ll have experience on a wide range of wastewater processes, mainly within a European or the UK water industry, and an understanding of the theory behind their operation. You will be qualified to degree level as a minimum, preferably within a relevant scientific or engineering field.

This is a key role within the business and will require someone who is used to using their own initiative, whilst working within our Quality Management system. You’ll have good facilitation skills, be detail orientated and be an active listener.

As well as being self-sufficient, you’ll need to have good interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.

Benefits for you
  • Pension - up to 20% combined contribution
  • 25 days’ holiday rising to 28 with length of service
  • Opportunity to buy and sell up to five days’ holiday
  • Life assurance (four times your salary)
  • Flexible working
  • Cashback and discounts from over 1,200 retailers
  • Paid volunteering day
  • Enhanced maternity leave
  • Health and wellbeing programme
  • Support from mental health first aiders

Our client offers a wealth of both financial and non-financial benefits to offer our people and are committed to ensuring we provide an environment that supports health and wellbeing and flexible working. They are committed to promoting diversity and inclusion and welcome all applicants. Applicants who declare they have a disability or have previously served with the Armed Forces, and meet the minimum requirements for the job, will automatically be invited for an interview.
