Civil Design Engineer

Our client offers a range of services including design, manufacturing, installation, construction and commissioning their design and offsite manufacturing teams’ work closely to develop technology based solutions with a strong focus on innovation and value engineering.

Our client’s multi-disciplinary services include civil, process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control and automation. They also provide a range of bespoke modular and containerised water & wastewater treatment and fuel conditioning systems.

They are seeking to recruit a Civil Design Engineer to join their dedicated design team. Location for this role can be flexible as attendance at the Hampshire-based office will only be required once or twice a month. The role is working as part of a multi-disciplined team, responsible for the design management of a variety of different projects including water and wastewater treatment plants.

Individuals will be responsible for managing all aspects of civil design, including:

  • Responsible for management of project specific design deliverables

  • Interpreting and understanding client requirements from client documents (drawings, specifications, correspondence, etc.)

  • Communication with client, external design resources and subcontractors to ensure compliance with specification

  • Site surveys of existing assets

  • Optioneering and feasibility studies

  • Assisting with tender pricing

  • Production of procurement specifications and production of detailed design construction drawings

  • Project managing third party designs and providing design assistance to installation and commissioning teams

  • Management of internal and external project specific design costs in liaison with the Project Manager

  • Estimation of material and labour costs

  • Undertake design risk assessments to support detailed design proposals

  • Liaise with clients and subcontractors

 

Qualifications/background:
 
  • An appropriate civil engineering qualification is required
  • Chartered membership of a relevant professional institution is an advantage but not essential
  • A background of water/waste water treatment also advantageous but not essential.
