- We are working with a client based in London who are seeking a Structural Technical Associate to join their team.
The candidate will have at least 10 years’ experience in a design consultancy
General Responsibilities:- The overall performance of the group office/function as part of the management team
- One or more areas of technology / discipline / function
- Responsible for the recruitment, performance, work and development of others, providing guidance, training, motivational and directional feedback
- Promoting learning from successes and problems within the group and across the firm
- The development and/or implementation of plans for the longer term benefit to the company
- Setting and meeting agreed budgets
- Morale and motivation of specified staff
- Financial performance in specified areas. (e.g. healthy profit / cash flow)
- Procuring work (negotiating significant contracts/agreements with customers and or suppliers)
- Accountable for meeting agreed deadlines
- Represents the company at internal and external meetings
- Responsible and accountable for client/customer relations
- Executes responsibilities as outlined in the firm’s Management System
- Responsible for the achievement of financial targets in specified areas; contributes to the setting of budgets
- Responsible for negotiating significant contracts / agreements with customers and / or suppliers
- Direct and supervise other Designers/Drafters activities as required
- Perform structural design and analysis calculations using governing codes and standards, engineering formulas, skills and experience
- Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment for simulation purposes and to prepare engineering design documents
- Apply expert knowledge of the forces that act on various structures
- Research design options and document findings
- Provide drawing for own designs and produce sketches to incorporate in drawings by Designers/Drafters
- Review shop drawings
- Undertake liaison and coordination with other designers, including architects, and other engineers to agree on safe designs and their fit with the aesthetic and concept of the construction
- Handle contract administration
- Undertake liaison with construction contractors to ensure that newly erected buildings are structurally sound.
- Examine structures at risk of collapse and advise how to improve their structural integrity, such as recommending removal or repair of defective parts or rebuilding the entire structure
- Demonstrate capability and experience in managing and performing projects in a fast paced environment
