Description
Lead Design Engineer

Our client, a leading design and build contractor in the water industry, is looking to strengthen their Engineering team with a Lead Design Engineer to coordinate the multidisiplinary design team for a portfolio of projects.

Under the guidance of the Design Manager, this role will act as the first point of contact for technical design matters across the Thames Water framework.

Key responsibilities for the role will include:

  • Provide commitment to excellence in Health & Safety (H&S) in design, complying fully with Construction (Design & Management) Regulations (CDM) and all other relevant H&S legislation.
  • Have a good working knowledge of the design processes in all the main technical disciplines
  • Provide clear and visible leadership to your project design team(s), create a positive environment and encourage a culture of excellence in your team(s).
  • Deliver detailed design to meet the construction needs and client acceptance.
  • Ensure that all design work is delivered to the correct standards and specifications liaising with the technical leads on technical matters
  • To communicate effectively with the client through technical presentations, technical queries, and reports.
  • To provide where required, technical support during Assembly and Commissioning stages
  • Undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this role.

Requirements:

  • Previous experiences working in multi-disciplinary design teams, in a design-build environment and good knowledge of all technical aspects of water treatment
  • Degree in an engineering-related discipline
  • Working knowledge of CDM and construction Health & Safety
  • Technical management and Leadership skills
  • Able to present technical proposals
  • A Chartered Engineer in an engineering-related discipline and experiences in the Water/Wastewater Treatment industry is desirable, as is knowledge of BIM procedures and techniques.
